STB

First there was Surfer the magazine. Now there’s Surfer, The Bar – except it’s more than a bar, it’s a true original, located in the flashpoint of global surfing,  Oahu’s legendary North Shore. Surfer is a partnership between Turtle Bay and Surfer magazine, the global bible of surfing culture and a magazine known for its stunning photography, free-flowing writing style and eye-candy advertisements. Surfer chooses its partners carefully, which says a lot about the character of this bar.

Join us for the Hawaiian premiere of an independent Australian film dedicated to barrels. “Since my very first tube ride as a grommet I’ve been hooked on the barrel, just like every surfer I know,” says Tony “Harro” Harrington the project creator, director and filmer. “At its core, what drives us all is the lure of wanting more time in the barrel.” This film tracks a global journey for hollow waves from Hawaii to Indonesia, across to Mexico, Tahiti and Australia and celebrates the surfers and the waves along the way. Harro will share his story and a special screening of this new film at Surfer, The Bar.

Rodney Mullen, a vital member of the Bones Brigade team set off on a path that would redefine the way a skateboard could be ridden. He went on to found World Industries skateboards, and was 2002 Skater of the Year. Today he is known as the “Godfather of Street Skating”. Go deeper into Rodney’s story and then watch the critically acclaimed movie Bones Brigade.
